The best functionality of a GPS personal training device for running is the distance gauge. Most are extremely accurate, however it is possible to get different mileage readings depending on your stride length. This is especially true when running on winding trails or in tree-dense environments.

Many devices will also provide elevation readings and even indicate the steepness of the grade on which you may be running. This is particularly helpful if you train in mountainous regions, or like me, you prefer a course with as many bridges as you can find.
