GPS devices have become very popular in the last few years. All of the information can be shared with your friends via email, so you can share and compare your data with other skiers.

For instance, the new iPad base model is location aware, though not as much as the 3G model. In other words, it can figure out it’s own location based on Wi-Fi signals, and figure out the direction it is facing using a digital compass. The 3G model can also determine it’s location using cellular phone towers and both models carry the accelerometer.

iPads are becoming more and more popular too.  So you can be sure that there will be many other applications and programs that will help you make the most of your iPad and the most of your GPS technology.  The world is becoming more and more wired and as it does it will become more easy to get geographical locations and information.  Pretty soon it will be hard to get lost, in other words.  Now that doesn’t mean you can go out into the wilderness and wander around all you want.  You still need to be prepared.  But it is getting easier to be prepared all the time.  Just make sure that you have a map and a compass handy in case you can’t get a signal if you are going into a remote area.

4 Stars Tomtom Go 720
I wanted a case to protect my Tomtom Go 720 from scratches to the screen and shock. This case meets my needs; perfect expectation is a perfect fit so I gave it 4 stars due to the larger size. Otherwise, it’s a nice five star case.

Width: Almost 1″ extra space

Height: Almost 1″ extra space

Additional note: The case I received did not have a strap ring, as shown in the picture. Opening on the bottom provides access to the USB port on the Go 720 unit.

3 Stars Too big for newer Garmin Nuvi 3.5″ units
This case is well-made but a little too large for the Garmin 3.5″ units like the Nuvi 200/205/250/255. The thickness is just right but the length and width are about .5 and .75 inches too big. That’s really not a problem unless you were hoping to be able to carry your Nuvi GPS in your pants or shirt pocket, as I was.

Also, my case does not have the metal loops for a strap as shown in the picture. Not a problem for me but just FYI.

4 Stars GPS Protective Case
Leaving electronics such as cell phones and GPS units, or any of their accessories, visible inside your vehicle when you leave the car is asking for trouble. ANY sign that devices like these are present should be fully hidden from view. For safe concealment of a GPS a well designed case is essential for protecting the GPS from scratches and other damage while stored. This well built case fulfills that need.

The case’s fit on 4.3 inch GPS unit is just perfect. It provides good protection with a chic look of my Magellan 1200. Also the smell of new leather is just great!!
